Threat for the 'Open Web'

In an interview published on sunday, Google's co-founder pointed attacks on the open Internet, including government censorship and interception of data, overzealous attempts to protect intellectual property, and new communication portals that use web technologies and the internet.

Google’s co-founder Brin lists several other threats to the open Web (and to Google):

• Smartphone apps, as led by Apple: "all the information in apps -- that data is not crawlable by Web crawlers. You can't search it."
• Facebook, where data goes in but never comes out: "Facebook has been sucking down Gmail contacts for many years."
• SOPA and PIPA, which Brin says would have led to the U.S. using the same content-screening technology it has criticized China and Iran for using.

Brain Drain of Google

Brain Drain, is also known as “The human capital flight”. It can be simply defined as the mass emigration of technically skilled people from one country to another country or one company to another.

Brightest people always choose to be at the side of innovation companies. When tech companies reorganizes or restructures because of loosing innovation power, smart people starts to escape to other bright companies. For example in 2010 Google wore off and lost its top skilled people. Despite of raising salaries and buying some new companies, brain drain of Google still continued. Here some articles of Harvard Business Review and others about Google brain drain.

Apple and Labor Issues

Last month I shared my opinions about Apple and cheap labor matters in my blog. That news shows us for in coming months, Apple will have a headache about labor matters.

Apple and one of its top suppliers, Hon Hai Precision agreed to a set of recommendations by the Fair Labor Association to reduce work hours and change other employment policies.

And another article about Apple and labor issues. A day after Timothy D. Cook, Apple’s chief executive, toured a Chinese factory where the company’s products are made, an audit commissioned by Apple criticized the long hours and dangerous working conditions at plants run by Foxconn, the operator of the factory Mr. Cook visited last week.
